This summer the Bayreuth Festival will begin on July 25, 2025 with a new production of DIE MEISTERSINGER VON NURNBERG by director Matthias Davids. The Bayreuth Orchestra and Chorus will be conducted by Daniele Gatti.

Opening Night will be shown in movie theaters all over Germany. There will also be a live telecast on the STAGE+ streaming service from Deutsche Grammophon.

Daniele Gatti is currently chief conductor of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, artistic advisor of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, music director of the Orchestra Mozart and chief conductor of the Staatskapelle Dresden.
 Matthias Davids is a German director who has become known for his musical and operatic productions. Since December 2012, he has held the artistic direction of the newly established musical division at the Landestheater Linz.
